The Big Brothers/Sisters mentoring program provides girls and young women or boys and young men (depending on the program) with a role model to talk to and share the experiences of growing up with. Through regular outings, a relationship is developed between the mentor and the mentee, which is built on trust and common interests, and is supported by our experienced case-workers. The result is a life-changing experience for both the mentor and the mentee.

Services: Programs at the Eagles Fire Youth Center are structured to improve and enhance the quality of life for all youth in the city of Portage la Prairie and surrounding areas. They are available for anyone ages 12-24 for the Cultural Connections for Aboriginal Youth Program. Those interested in getting involved with the CCAY program, please fill out the CCAY Youth Registration Booklet located under the Eagles Fire Youth Centre section on the PFC website.
Lighthouses Project - Available for youth ages 10-24, a community based crime-prevention program offered throughout the year in conjunction with the Guys & Girls Club.
Sports and Recreation Activities - organized league sports and 'gym nights'; drop-in center: ping-pong, board & card games and cultural activities; seasonal activities - summer recreation program (camping, hiking and swimming).
Personal Development & Life Skills - youth employment officer with career/employment assistance, job hunts, contacts, training retention skills. Computer access provides skills and tools to prepare employment documents and use of internet as a job/education tool.

Services: The Portage la Prairie Local Immigration Partnership works to supports the settlement and integration of newcomers by improving engagement, creating welcoming and inclusive spaces and communities, and overall helping newcomers feel safe, settled and welcome. If newcomer youth are looking for support services, they would be referred to the Portage Learning and Literacy Centre. Their Settlement program offers newcomer services to clients including specific programs for newcomer youth and families.

Services: The Portage la Prairie Regional Library offers a variety of programs that are for all age groups and are free to access. On top of reading materials the library offers public Wi-Fi access and a variety of computer services including public computer workstations with Microsoft Office software, CD or USB memory stick access, children's games, photocopying and printing (for a small fee) and access to EBSCO host databases, the Ancestry database, and additional websites of interest. The library has many options for people who have difficulties accessing the library, for example the Library Home Service: run by volunteers, enables individuals unable to visit the library to borrow physical reading materials, E-Books and E-Magazines are available through eLibraries Manitoba and RBdigital, and CELA and NNELS services are available for Portage la Prairie Regional Library members with diagnosed visual impairments. They also offer Inter-Library Loans, a service where Library members can borrow material from another library, within Manitoba or outside of the province. The Library has a Multi-Purpose Room is available for rent/public use if the library does not require the space (the space holds up to a maximum of 50 people).

Services: Rainbow Resource Centre (RRC) offers support to the 2SLGBTQ+ community in the form of counselling, education, healthcare and programming for individuals ranging from children through to 55+. It also supports families, friends, and employers of 2SLGBTQ+ individuals.
RRC’s Education Program provides 2SLGBTQ+ and ally education, awareness, and outreach that assists healthcare providers, educators, students, social service, and commercial service providers.
The Youth Program offers 2SLGBTQ+ youth a safe, fun place to learn new skills, create projects, and celebrate identities. RRC also has a volunteer program, community library, and coordinates the community-led groups and committees that meet at RRC.
